SUMMER MONTHS
During the summer, the sun’s radiant heat rays, heats up
your roof materials, regardless of whether they are made of
wood, tile, concrete or composition, and that heat is then
transferred into your attic space. Using an infra-red heat
gun, we have measured the surfaces of attic roof sheeting
that reached 190 degrees, and in some cases, even hotter.
This blazing radiant heat from the roof permeates the
roofing materials and roof sheeting, and is then transferred
into your attic space. It is there that it meets the insulation.
All insulation has a specific R-Value, meaning the insulation
will resist the heat based on that R-Value.
The heat from the attic then starts filling the air gaps in the
insulation, and like a sponge (based on its R-Value), the
insulation traps the heat and then transfers it down into the
cooler room below.
Based on the Laws of Nature, heat always chases the cold.
When you turn on the air conditioner to cool your house,
the heat stored in the insulation is gradually released into
the room below. As the heat from your attic chases the
cold, your air conditioner will continue to run, until the
stored radiant heat is dissipated. If you have an efficient,
large-capacity air conditioner, it will be able to keep up with
the heat transfer. However, a smaller unit will not. Even in
the evenings your house truly never cools down, even while
the air conditioner is running. Why is that? The reason is
because up to 85 % of summer heat gain is through your attic and your attic insulation. Think about that
for a moment ... that's more than ¾ of your entire home's heat gain.
WINTER MONTHS
During the winter months, the heat inside your house rises up through the sheetrock and up into the
insulation, and based on its R-Value, it slows, traps and passes the heat into your attic (remember ... heat
chases the cold). Up to 75 % of your winter heat is lost this way. And that heat loss is not only demanding
on your home's heating equipment, it is very, very costly.
THE YEAR-ROUND SOLUTION
Both the summer months and the winter seasons will continue to be very costly to your budget if you
don't find a solution to your home's heating and cooling problems. We have the answer, and a year-
round, lasting solution.
After we complete an energy audit in your home, we will provide you with specific details about exactly
where your home's energy losses or gains are occurring. Then, in usually less than a day, we can place our
proven Radiant Barrier products in your home's attic. Because the results are immediate, in the summer,
you will experience that up to 97% of the radiant heat that is beating down on your home will be
redirected back to where it came from. In the winters, you will find that your home stays warm and
comfortable at a considerably far less cost than before. Summer or winter, our Radiant Barrier products
are the perfect solution!
The Radiant Barrier product will never create heat, it will only reflect it. The Radiant Barrier product
prevents the insulation from heating up and passing that heat into your home's living environment. Once
our Radiant Barrier product is in place, now your air conditioner will run efficiently because it is no longer
struggling to remove the intense heat from the attic insulation, saving you a tremendous amount of
energy dollars, each and every year.
The same is true of our Radiant Barrier product for the winter heat. As the heat rises it is chasing the cold.
However, as the heat is stopped at the radiant barrier lining the attic, it is reflected right back into the
house to keep you warm and more comfortable. Once our Radiant Barrier product is in place, your home
will not tend to have hot and cold spots, as is common with most homes, because the heat becomes more
evenly distributed.
